  • This is what I know:

    1) For better or worse, we are shaped and molded by the people in our lives.

    2) Love can be found in anyplace you look for it, but it isn't always easy to hold on to.

    3) It is good to feel inferior when looking up at the sky, or standing beside the ocean.

    4) Mistakes are worth making if you learn from each and every one.

    5) Humans are capable of adaptation; accept change.

    6) Nothing is as reliable as nature.

    7) Reading the words of people gone before yourself will bring you back to basic.  

    8) Simplicity is a gift, and silence truly is golden.

    9) Playing it safe is smart. Taking a chance is brave.

    10) Love, and the reason that I laugh and breathe is oh, love.

  • I saw your face on someone else the other day. Smaller bones, though -- he wouldn't have felt the same. I resisted any further temptation at that thought. It isn't a substitute I need, no. But it isn't you, either. I hope you know that.

    And sometimes I wonder if maybe my self-destructive behavior is an ode to you, the mask that I wear every hour of the day. But it's my reflection that you see in the mirror, so I don't count this as a loss. No, darling, the day won't come when you don't see me in your sleep.

     

     

    (If I love solitude, I love company even more.)
